On Sunday’s Disney/Mother’s Day-themed episode of American Idol, the singer – who is expecting her first child, a daughter, with fiancé Orlando Bloom this summer – gave viewers a glimpse of her growing belly while sharing a sweet pregnancy update.

“I don’t know what motherhood is, and while I’ve always felt like my friends and my fans are very motherly, I know I’m about to take it to the next level,” Perry, 35, told Idol host Ryan Seacrest and fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. “I even have a bump. She’s kicking ass, too. When the performances are good, she’s kicking. So just make them good, but not too good, because it hurts!”

Perry, who plays Dumbo’s mom, Mrs. Jumbo, on ABC’s Disney Family Singalong. Vol. II Sunday, says her elephant costume is appropriate for the perfect icon for the special.

“I feel very pregnant and a little bit undersized.” The mom-to-be told fans in a Facebook Live before Sunday’s show.

On March 5, Perry first shared the news of her pregnancy, holding her belly in the music video for her song “Never Worn White.”

On April 3, she also revealed that she and Bloom, 43, were expecting a daughter, sharing a photo of her fiancé covered in pink cream – clearly part of the messy but fun sex reveal – and simply captioning it, “?? It’s a girl ??”.

Last week, the “Never Really Ended” singer opened up about embracing her pregnancy in the midst of a coronavirus global health crisis.

“It’s good to feel all the feels,” Perry told a fan on Facebook Live, sharing that her wedding is scheduled for next month, but she’s having “a very difficult time staying positive.”

“I’ve had to rearrange a lot of plans. It’s not like everyone does a baby trip or a baby shower, but I’m not sure I can do everything. I just take it one day at a time.” She said.

“But I’d appreciate it,” Perry added, “I mean, I’m grateful right now, but you know, there’s a lot of work to do.” I mean, I’m grateful right now, but, you know, there’s a lot going on.”

Perry chatted with Extra via a Zoom video call late last month, in which the first-time mom said she’s “doing a great job, all things considered” around the COVID-19 outbreak.

“There’s a lot to think about…. I’m glad I’m not going into labor tomorrow,” the “Teenage Dream” singer admitted.” It’s one day at a time, always being open to the unknown and exploring options.”

“Even though I can be highly irritated by the close isolation from my family – I’m used to jet-setting around and being really busy – now that I feel like we’ve laid a new foundation in our family, [that] there’s a stronger bond,” she continued.

“We had some horrible days and I wanted to cry, but I believe that when we look back on this, for myself, it will be this beautiful bond that we created,” Perry said.
