RHOC’s Emily Simpson Has Anxiety Attack as She Opens Up About Marital Problems

October 11, 2018

It was an emotional night for Emily Simpson on Tuesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County.

The attorney and mother of three – who shares daughter Annabelle, 6, and twin sons Luke and Keller, 4, with husband Shane Simpson – burst into tears during a trip to the Beverly Hills set, telling friend Gina Kirschenheiter that trouble in her personal life had led to the Her stress level was increasing.

“I just felt so depressed, I felt so anxious, and I just felt like I couldn’t handle every little thing that was happening,” said Emily, 43.” I feel like I can barely do every single thing I’m supposed to do. I feel like I’m barely being a good mom, barely being a good wife, barely being a good lawyer. I’m just holding on to every aspect of my life.”

“I’m having an anxiety attack right now,” she added.” I feel like I can’t breathe. I just feel lost right now.”

She exclaims.” I’m just really overwhelmed, and I’m really sad, and right now I’m acting like a crazy person, and I don’t know why.”

Gina has been best friends with Emily since the two joined RHOC last season, and she’s noticed that her best friend has been acting a little off lately. But while Gina is sympathetic, she doesn’t believe Emily when she says she doesn’t know what’s upsetting her.

“You’re a mess,” Gina told Emily bluntly.” I get the feeling it’s something more and you’re not addressing it.”

“Emily couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was wrong with her, I think, maybe because she didn’t want to,” Gina confessed to the audience.” I think maybe it’s something that happened with Shane.”

Of course, Gina is well aware of the pain caused by marital problems, as she is currently embroiled in a contentious divorce and custody battle with her estranged husband, Matt Corshant.

“She’s really not herself,” Gina later told the rest of the cast.” I feel like, there are things that she’s not saying.”

In fact, Emily is keeping the details of some of the issues she and Shane have in their home from other women.

The couple had been married for 10 years, but had been living apart at the time of filming as Shane was studying for the bar exam. He needed to focus on his exams, so he was living in a hotel and hadn’t spoken to Emily in 10 days.

To add some spice to their marriage, Emily surprises Shane by booking her to dance at a cabaret show in Las Vegas. But that only makes things worse when Shane, a practicing Mormon, says he disagrees and won’t support her.

“He said he wasn’t comfortable and he didn’t know he wanted to be there,” Emily recalled on Tuesday’s RHOC.” We kind of got into a fight, an argument. It hurt my feelings…. It was out of his comfort zone.”

“Shane and I, we’re in a very difficult place right now,” Emily admitted.” I’m reluctant to share about my marriage because I don’t want people to jump on the bandwagon of bashing my husband.”

So instead, Emily took out her anger on her fellow Orange County housewife, Shannon Beador.

The two aren’t exactly friends on the show, and they had a vicious fight on the Season 13 reunion. So it’s no wonder Emily was furious when she heard former Flipping Out star Jeff Lewis claim on his SiriusXM radio show that Beador told him that she suspected Emily and Gina might soon be disappearing from RHOC.

“You may have lost 40 pounds of fat, but you definitely haven’t lost 40 pounds of jealousy,” Emily tweeted.” #GetOverYourself.”

She added the phrase “frozen fish is Riveting” to a hashtag that tapped into Beador’s Real for Real Cuisine.

Bido wasn’t smiling.” I’m proud of myself for creating a career at this age.” She said.” Emily wants to cut me some slack? I hope you feel good?”

The two eventually discuss things face to face, and Beador denies ever telling Lewis what he claims she said.

Emily asks, “Why was it misunderstood?” I don’t know, but it’s anecdotal.” Biddle told her.” You’re a lawyer. You should know that things can get messy during the course of a phone call. You should be texting me.”

That resonated with Emily.

“I understand what hearsay is, that’s why I apologized.” She told Biddle.” I should have picked up the phone, I should have texted you, I should have asked you. That was wrong, that was my . , that was 100% my responsibility. I want you to accept my apology. I’m really just trying to move on. I take 100 percent of the blame.”

Fans will have to wait and see if Emily and Beddo can put this behind them, but as far as Emily’s marital problems go, those seem to be in the past.

Back in March, she took to Instagram to celebrate her and Shane’s 10-year anniversary together in a sprawling post.

“Even after 10 years together, we are still committed to each other and to raising our 5 children (3 together and my 2 stepdaughters) with lots of love and laughter and the best parenting intentions to guide them to be kind, compassionate, inspiring and nurturing people,” Emily wrote.

“Thank you, Mr. Simpson for always putting me and our family first after so many years together ,” she added.” Your integrity, commitment to your family and hands-on approach to raising our children is always commendable!!!” . Here’s to another 10 years!”
